Like a Hot Air Balloon

How do you spend your time on Sunday?

Are you catching up from the week before, or resting and preparing yourself for the week ahead?

Are you draining your resources or filling your energy tanks?

I love yoga, and one of my favorite things to do on Sunday is this restorative yoga sequence.

While following the sequence one day, the instructor was talking about how “healing is a letting go”, and I reflected on that…

As I build my business I have been asking myself questions like these to find my direction:

  • Who do I need to be to build this business the way I envision it?
  • What do I need to do to be successful?
  • Where do I need to go to be visible to the right people?
  • What do I need to learn to do XYZ?

And these questions all seem additive, like I have to be someone else, or do something I’m not doing, or be in a different place, or learn something I don’t know.

The answers to these questions seem like I have to do more than I’m doing now to succeed in my business (hello burnout).

And when I heard the yoga instructor say “healing is a letting go” I thought to myself, that perhaps in order to grow, we need to let go before we can expand.

Or, at least, by letting go of old ideas, and beliefs and systems and habits that we can allow the new things to come in – the things that will allow us to grow.

It made me think of tossing the sand bags off the side of a hot air balloon so that it can rise to new heights.

And then I saw this short video of Rabbi Dr. Abraham Twerski describing the process of how a lobster grows.

He talks about how, when the lobster has outgrown its shell, it gets tight and uncomfortable and experiences stress. In order to grow, it must shed the shell it is in and grow a new shell that fits its new body.

Does this sound familiar?

Are you uncomfortable or stressed or struggling?

Rest assured that this is just you ready to shed the things in your life that are holding you back.

Enjoy rising to new heights and enjoy the view from your new vantage point!

With warm wishes for your success, Tara
