What does it mean to be productive?
Next month I’m traveling back home to California for my sister’s wedding. Not only do I have two years of catching up to do, but I’ve got to make every second of this special occasion count.
So I think productivity is doing the things that are worthwhile when you’ve only got a limited amount of time.
It’s about making choices; the classic quantity vs. quality debate –
Do you do as much as possible?
Or do you pick the most meaningful?
I can think of lots of times when I stuffed my plate/calendar/suitcase/shopping cart/pockets/mouth full of things assuming that by getting more I’d get more satisfaction.
But all I can recall of those times are upset stomachs and strained muscles.
So I’m working on doing less, but making it better and choosing the things that will bring the most satisfaction…
– Putting one thing on the calendar and having it be something that is totally and completely worth my time.
– Putting one thing on my plate and savoring each bite.
– Putting one thing in my closet, but having it be something that I adore, that makes me look and feel good.
My sixth grade teacher once said, “If you aren’t happy with what you have, how can you expect to be happier with more?”
