In 1998 I was working on earning my master’s degree.
I was enrolled in C++ and working in the computer lab one Saturday morning trying frantically to get my program to compile.
For the life of me I could not debug my program. I was in a panic; I wanted to finish the assignment so I could drive home to celebrate Mother’s Day on Sunday.
In my desperation I uttered these words:
Dear God, I need help. I don’t care how you send help, but I need it. I can’t do this alone. Thank you.
And then I surrendered.
I puttered around with my program a little bit more. I reread my notes from class. I referenced my textbook.
Nothing.
Two hours passed and one of my classmates sauntered into the lab and set up at the terminal next to mine. He took one look at my screen and said, “Do you need help?”
From that moment on we never parted.
We were married a few years afterward and my cross-continent, cross-cultural adventure began.
This is a prayer with the power to work miracles. Try it.
